Tasting - Sheffield Cellars Tawny Port

Name: Sheffield Cellars Tawny Port
Variety: Tawny Port
Region: California
Country: USA
Year: NV
Price: $5.60

Winery Review: Deep garnet color. Spicy boysenberry, buttery caramel, straw, and nut aromas. A soft, silky entry leads to a sweet and somewhat limp medium-to-full bodied palate of boysenberry tart, spice, and white pepper flavors. Finishes with a chalky fruit, spiky alcohol, and toasted nut fade. Strictly commercial.

My Review: Big aromas. Fruity but with an overwhelming alcohol smell. Nutty, caramel, oaky smells follow. It tastes fruity specifically cherries and berries. There's a taste of oak and caramel and nuts. The finish is sort of acidic and spicy.
