Tasting - Riebeek Cellars Shiraz

Name: Riebeek Cellars Shiraz
Variety: Shiraz
Region: Swartland
Country: South Africa
Year: 2013
Price: $7

Winery Review: Often referred to as Shiraz Country, the Riebeek Valley is renowned for exceptional Shiraz wines. The Riebeek Shiraz is a lively rich wine, full bodied with a subdued smokiness on the nose and a pallet of ripe fruit and interesting spice.

My Review: Right off the bat I smell buttered toast which is very pleasant. Then I detect some cherries working around in there. The taste was of raspberries, blackberries, currants, and unripe fruit. The alcohol content was bit much, almost overpowering. And it had a short finish. It was an enjoyable wine and I would drink again.
