Tasting - Resonata Nero d'Avola

Name: Resonata Nero d'Avola
Variety: Nero d'Avola
Region: Sicily
Country: Italy
Year: 2013
Price: $6

Winery Review: This smooth, young red wine from Sicily is a fantastic value, and a case purchase would be a wise move. It has a body comparable to a fine Beaujolais, but a spicy, more earthy Italian character to it. There's plenty of black cherry fruit and enough backbone to keep it drinking well into next year. (I wouldn't cellar it for an extended period.) This is a classy wine that would be great to sip outdoors while grilling.

My Review: It has big, big aromas. Very earthy. Smells of black fruit and raspberries with some spice. The taste is similar with a lot of black fruit and with cherries. It is very tannic and dry. The flavor is muted after a bit of time. It has a short finish. It is a good little drinking wine especially for the value but it's nothing that gets me excited.
