Tasting - Barboursville Cabernet Franc Reserve

Name: Barboursville Cabernet Franc Reserve
Variety: 100% Cabernet Franc
Region: Orange County, Virginia
Country: USA
Year: 2012
Price: $25

Winery Review: A Virginia classic. With layers upon layers of ripe berries, plum, currant, cherry and cedar, woven together perfectly by twelve months of French oak aging. Cabernet Franc’s great character combines intense flavors with remarkable softness.

My Review:
Now this is the wine that I was highly anticipating when I came here. Cab Franc has become one of my favorite varietals and this one did not disappoint. It was fruity on the nose with hints of cherry and plum. The taste was big and complex with cherry and general red fruit coming through with a spiciness defining the flavors. It had a lingering finish. This was one of my favorite wines that I’ve had and worth the price point at which they are offering.
